Acquire the industrial aspects of fuel cycle and mainly isotopic enrichment, fuel making, main components of reactors, PUREX process and vitrification. Visits of industrial sites in these domains (EC OMI3 – about 10 hours).

Acquire the industrial aspects of fuel cycle and mainly isotopic enrichment, fuel making, main components of reactors, PUREX process and vitrification. Visits of industrial sites in these domains (EC OMI3 – about 10 hours).

Fundamental reminders of NUC3 about uranium fuel cycle and presentation of various industrial aspects of the fuel cycle by industrial speakers : deposits, chemistry of uranium, fuel elaboration, isotopic enrichment of U (diffusion and centrifugation), making heavy components of reactors, practical aspects of the operation of a reactor, PUREX process and other advanced processes (DIAMEX, SANEX,…) storage and disposal of waste with ong-term management of waste. Legislative aspects, nuclear trade and work in radioactive areas.

 

Visits of industrial sites (AREVA La Hague + the other sites according to years) within the framework of the EC OMI 3 for 7 hours on site (specific to nuclear and in link with the theoritical EC NUC3 and OMI2 for other visits).

Presentation and written report on a topic related to the use of nuclear energy.

Idem to NUC3 plus specific documents and CD of industrial speakers and companies.
