Acquire the bases of radioactive elements (Actinides), nuclear energy, neutron physics, reactors and fuel cycle of uranium. Visits of industrial sites in these domains (EC OMI2/OMI3 – about 10 hours).

Fundamental reminders (NUC1 and NUC2), chemistry of Actinides (history, existence, separation, preparation, nuclear and specific properties), fuel cycle of uranium (deposits, chemistry of uranium, elaboration of the fuel, isotopic enrichment of U, principles of reactors, reprocessing of waste and storage, neutron physics, nuclear safety (installations, incidents / accidents, risks, legislation, impact on the environment), EPR and generation IV, heavy components, long-term energy problem. Studies of fission products and their evolution during time. Long-term management of waste. The different « filières » in the world and perspectives.

 

Visits of industrial sites (CNPE EDF of Penly + the other sites according to years) within the framework of the EC OMI 2 for 4 hours on site (specific to nuclear and in link with EC NUC+ where others visits are scheduled).
